Southwest students and staff found relief from the heat when they swam in the Colorado River just a few miles from where the river crosses the border into Mexico.

Carol Chapman, a biologist, spoke to the group about an attempt to restore wetlands to the lower Colorado River area around Yuma.

While camped at the Queche Fort Yuma Indian Reservation Community Center, tent-less Southwest sleepers were surprised at 1:00 AM when sprinklers sprayed water all over this lawn, dousing sleeping bags, duffle bags, and tired campers, forcing us to move elsewhere.
