American Southwest visited the Irwin and
Mary Jo Porter farm in Quinter, Kansas. Mr. Porter showed students
his wheat fields, allowed us to check the soil moisture and quality in a
recently planted sunflower field, and took us on a tour of his
equipment. Below, Stuart, Mr. Porter, and Jordan stand beside a
sprayer with an 80 foot wide extension that can cover 30 acres an
hour. The Porter farm extends over 5,760 acres. |
