Location: On the way home

July 1, 2005
We
woke up early at
6:30
to start our last day of snorkeling.
After a breakfast of eggs with sausage, bagels, go-gurt, and
applesauce, we put on our swimsuits, grabbed our snorkeling gear, and
piled into the coach. Applying
sunscreen to burned backs was a challenge as we zoomed towards Looe Key,
where we would snorkel that day. We
were outfitted with rubber fins at the location where our boat was docked.
After trying out our strange-looking fins, we climbed aboard the
Kokomo Cat, our boat that took us into “deep” water, about 25-40 feet.
The captain took us to some prime snorkeling areas where we jumped
out 3 times, about 1 hour each. The
time flew by as we snorkeled and dived, looking at beautiful fish, marine
plant life, sharks, barracuda, and one sea turtle.
Ian got to touch the sea turtle and some snorkelers even saw up to
5 sharks! Soon, though, it was
time to head back. Most napped
on the boat ride back to the coach and some even slept on the coach ride
back to the beach house. We
ate a quick supper of baked potatoes, cleaned up ourselves and the house,
and packed up our accumulated luggage.
We headed out for the final coach ride- this one for 18 hours on
the charter bus. On the coach,
some slept, others turned in the final essay, a few worked on the weaving,
and most snacked in the back for a few minutes.
2 and ˝ hours down the road, we stopped for a bathroom break and
then spread out on the coach for the night, trying to get some elusive
sleep.
