American Southwest students and staff climbed the biggest hill at the Cahokia Mounds in Illinois, near St. Louis, on Wednesday morning, June 8, 2005.  Mr. Yoder and Mr. Bixler outlined our work on the immigration topic, using the Cahokia Indians as an example of early immigrants who disappeared from the land about AD 1400. The demise of the Cahokia get us thinking about who to create a proper balance between resources and relationships, our theme for the trip.  As you can see from the picture, the St. Louis arch stands visible to the west of the Mounds.  Andrew Meiser, our youngest traveler, is pictured below.
