Tom Hawkhurst spoke to American Southwest about Texas history at the Incarnate Word Academy in Houston, a Catholic all-girls high school. Tom is a Social Studies colleague and friend of Elwood Yoder.	Four representatives of Chevron Corporation spoke to Southwest at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. They talked about energy resources and led students and staff on an interactive tour of the Museum.
Southwest students and staff played a whiffleball game in Hermann Park, Houston. Mary hit the ball directly at the photographer, a social studies teacher, who promptly missed the ground ball.
